Understanding the roulette board

It is a must that the player who plays the game of roulette must understand the roulette board also, where he is supposed to place the bets. There are two main divisions on the board the outside bets and the inside bets. These are all placed on the roulette board in a manner that is extremely easy to understand.

The outside bets are of different formats. One can be the color of the outcome; red or black. The gambler has to bet on the color of the outcome. Another bet is that of even or odd number. These bets have a relatively higher chance of winning as the probability involved in them is 50-50.

The third kind of outside bet that you can place is that of the range of the number. These are either between 1 to 18 or between 19 to 36. The chances of winning this bet are not very less, that is, a little short of 50%.

Another outside bet that you can place is the dozen bet. This bet has the number divided in three groups 1 to 12, 13 to 24 and 24 to 36. The payoffs in this bet are 2 to1.

The other kind of bets are the inside bets that are placed as numbers from 1 to 36 on the board. In these bets you have to bet either on a single number or on a group of numbers. The bets being so specific have a high payoff, around 35 to 1 for a single number.

The zeros are placed in a green color on the board. There can be a single zero or double zeros according to European or American version of roulette respectively. The presence of two zeros alters the house edge of the game slightly and makes the European version more profitable.

The players are provided with chips in exchange of their money which they have to place on the roulette board while playing the game. Each chip is of a different color and denomination corresponding to different players. The board is placed right next to the table along with the roulette wheel. The crowd gathers around this table and plays the game.
