Famous Bets

There are many people in the past who have their names attached with gambling games. These legends either won a huge fortune or lost huge sum but got the place in roulette history.

Past

There was an engineer Joseph Jaggers, in mid 19th century, who made a huge amount from gambling. He realized that the wheel on the roulette table is not equally balanced and re occurrence of a particular number is not random but because of the tilt in the wheel. He observed the wheel in the Casino Beaux-Arts in Monte Carlo and proved that one of the six wheels in this casino hit nine numbers more often than any other number. He went to the casino and started playing on the specific wheel, he placed bet on those nine numbers and won $30,000. The casino owner moved the table from that place and put another table on its place when next day Jagger went to the casino he sat at the same place and lost huge amount, but soon he realized that that was not the same table, he quickly found the table where he has previously played and began playing again, this time winning $450,000. He ended up losing $125,000; however, over the course of the entire event he still had well over $325,000.

Now

In March 2004 Ashley Revell, a 32-year-old man from London, gambled everything at the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas. He went to the hotel with his total wealth of $135,300 and placed everything on red. The ball landed in the “Red 7” slot, and doubled the money to $270,600. He celebrated his luck with his family and friend and gave $600 tip to the dealer. This he did after people forced him to try his luck again but he had played enough of the game so he made that gesture and left.

Thus by looking into the lives of people who are associated with the game of Roulette we not only see the extent of winning and losing but see the amount of excitement that’s felt while playing or watching others play. These famous people who have tied their luck and have been able to win and lose a great deal enjoyed every bit of their experience. In winning they used their minds, played with full concentration and luck favoured them. In losing it was just bad luck but still they won by having their names remembered when one talks about this gambling game.
